The past few months have seen a wave of significant product announcements from leading cybersecurity vendors. Fortinet and Palo Alto Networks, in particular, have expanded their portfolios with a strong focus on AI, platform consolidation and simplified security operations. We’ve received several requests for a quick overview, so we’ve summarized some of the most notable releases from spring and summer 2026. We will take a closer look at each announcement in dedicated articles over the coming weeks.
One of the biggest announcements came from Fortinet during Accelerate 2026, where the company introduced FortiOS 8.0. The release adds Secure AI Controls, Fabric-based AI Agents, enhanced SASE capabilities, simplified SD-WAN and support for quantum-safe networking. Fortinet also unveiled major enhancements to its Security Operations platform, including Unified SOC, Agentic AI, FortiSOC (preview) and expanded endpoint security capabilities. Together, these updates further reinforce the company’s strategy of bringing networking and cybersecurity together on a unified platform.
Palo Alto Networks also delivered several notable updates throughout the summer. Among the highlights is the introduction of the AI Gateway within Prisma AIRS, providing centralized governance, visibility and security controls for enterprise AI applications, models and AI agents. The company also expanded its AI Runtime Security and AI Red Teaming capabilities to help organizations secure increasingly complex AI environments.
In addition, Cloud NGFW for AWS, PAN-OS, Prisma Access and Strata Cloud Manager all received updates focused on improved scalability, cloud management and operational efficiency.
A common trend is becoming increasingly clear across the cybersecurity industry. Nearly every major vendor is investing heavily in AI-driven security operations, broader platform strategies and tighter integration between previously standalone security products.
